Jura is Islay's closest neighbouring island and much like Islay, Jura is a wonderful island and a must to visit for at least a day when you're staying on Islay. This morning we headed with the early ferry to Jura and spent most of the day in Craighouse and at the Corran Sands near the airstrip. The weather was perfect, the sky was blue and these were the right ingredients for a magnificent day. Unfortunately the Jura House Gardens are still closed, ever since a new owner bought the estate, but there is enough to see and do to make your daytrip to Jura worth while. Have a look at the video below, taken from the north side of The Corran Sands overlooking the Small Isles Bay and the Paps of Jura. If the weather holds we will be heading for Colonsay tomorrow.
I was up just after sunset and went out for some pictures. The skies were very clear and the Paps of Jura were back in sight. The picture of the swan was taken at the head of Loch Indaal, so peaceful and quiet when nature and all the birds are waking up.
