    Loch Gruinart and Bowmore

We had a relaxed day yesterday. We went out for a walk on the Bunnahabhain Road and picked, and ate, many delicious brambles. After that we went to see a good friend and spent lunchtime at Loch Gruinart. There is an amazing amount of wildlife around there. We saw thousands and thousands of Barnacle Geese, a large flock of Crows, several Buzzards, ten Choughs flying together and many more waders on the mud flats. We were lucky that the tide was low for the waders, later on in the afternoon the tide was quite high and Loch Gruinart was completely filled with water, not something you see often. Saturday night by the way is the highest tide! We also had a quick visit to Bowmore and I have included an image of the new town square. The weather gradually went worse and in later in the afternoon it started to rain quite heavily and it did so most of the night and early morning as well. Right now it is clouded and windy, a rather dull day, but that can change pretty soon over here! I think this will be the last post for a while, I’m not sure if I can come online tomorrow morning. If not you can continue to follow my regular Islay Blog next Wednesday when I’m back home. See you on http://blog.islayinfo.com

The Isle of Islay is the southern most island of the Southern Hebrides of Scotland. The island is known for its stunning and unspoilt scenery, the eight working malt whisky distilleries, the wildlife, the unique landscape and the little over 3000 friendly people that live here, also called Ileach. The most comprehensive website of Islay is www.islayinfo.com and this account is linked to that website.
